The essentials of Jerez and Sanlucar their Tapas and Wines which will run from the 5th to 15th of June this year will be held in Jerez. The event commemorates the designation as the European Capital of the Sherry Wine 2014. The Stars of this event are the tapas and the Manzanilla Sherry will be served at the affordable price of 3 €.
The first edition of this event was held last year in Seville, and included the participation of 63 popular establishments in the centre of the capital. More than 30,000 votes, which rose so successful pairings like pork cheeks’’Alatriste’’ from Enrique Becerra served with Oloroso, chosen for the same wine was the spinach ‘’Rinconcillo ‘’and the pig trotters ‘’Eslava ‘’, these tapas were ones tat won the contest.
This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the sherry and gourmet tapas with the different pairings of wines originating in the region. El Vino de Jerez, is a hallmark of quality in itself, the program aims to give due recognition to this popular produce. It also intends to promote the accompanying dishes and meals with a good sherry either Fino, Manzanilla, Oloroso, Amontillado, Cream and Pedro Ximenez.
All participants must submit at least eight different references to Sherry and Manzanilla. These will be chosen for best complements for your tapa. Once the submitted pairings of each Bar are done, participants will vote for their favourite combinations in the web page; www.tapayjerez.com .
The 30 best tapas and their sherry will be certified as ” Amazing Tapa and Sherry ” and be part of a gastronomic guide to pick the best wine -tapa combinations.
The wines from wineries of Jerez elevate the traditional Spanish cuisine, specifically, local bars and restaurants will refer to themselves as Cádiz cuisine with dishes like shrimp fritters , the bull meat , potatoes or croquettes with cuttlefish stew with oloroso sherry .
